Ident Evaluation

Together as a team we managed time well. We came up with separate ideas and decided to pick our favourites, and then choose which one to go forward with. After picking our idea we then made a storyboard together and then the characters together. After shooting the ident one of us edited while the other found sound effects so together we worked pretty well and used our time wisely.

Our task was to make an ident for our college. We wanted to aim ours at students but have something the staff would also appreciate, so we came up with claymation as everyone likes it and it has a nice feel to it. We wanted to convey the college image into our ident and with claymation we thought we could convey the image of it being creative and fun. 

Our ident follows the rules of tv idents. It's a short representation of the college, as we show through the characters, it's short in time which idents are suppose to be and it has no voices or text in it so it's not too distracting. Overall I think our ident is pretty good.

From the comments on my blog I can see how I would improve things. For example the string used to make the ball fly was quite obvious so next time we would get a thinner string or make the camera angle so you can't see the string. I would also make the movements smaller so it flows better.

Overall I think our ident is a good representation of the college, it's simple, fun to watch and it is what the brief asked for.

The 26th Day - Scene 5

Josh, Brydie and Thomas are outside the bathroom, banging on the door.

Brydie

Isabel please just talk to us!

Josh

Come out before I bash the door down

Thomas

I don't think that'll be necessary Josh

Brydie

Isabel please we're not angry!

The door unlocks and slowly Isabel unlocks the door

Isabel

Hey

The four are now sitting back in the main room

Josh

So why was there blood on the tissues

Thomas

Not now Josh we can find out later

Brydie

No we need to know, Isabel?

Isabel

I had a nose bleed

Josh

Then why did you lock yourself away?

Isabel

I don't know

Brydie

Look, I'm just going to ask you one thing and you have to answer honestly

Isabel

Okay

Brydie

Have you been bitten?

Isabel nods and then looks down, we see under her sleeve is packed with tissues

Thomas gets up to comfort her

Thomas

Hey it's okay

Brydie

No don't touch her!

Thomas

What why?

Brydie

She's been infected! 

Thomas

She's our friend!

Brydie

I know but just stay back

Josh

Well I'm sorry Isabel but you have to go

Thomas

What! You can't just chuck her out!!

Brydie

Thomas..

Thomas

She's our friend! If she's going I'm going!

Isabel

I don't want to go

Josh

Well I'm sorry but you're infected so it's just selfish to stay

Brydie

Josh! Look Isabel I'm so sorry, but you know the rules, we'll come with you

Isabel

No it's not that, I don't want to go. I don't want turn into one of those things, even if we cover it up with cerebrum mortius syndrome they're still zombies, and now I'm one of them

Thomas

There's still time!

Isabel

There isn't, before with the guy out there, I told him to stop

Thomas

No he was distracted!

Isabel

I'm sorry, and I'm sorry for not saying anything

Brydie

I would've probably done the same

Josh

So what do we do now?

Thomas

I don't know, I guess we can take you to the forest or something?

Isabel

No

Brydie

I'm sorry Isabel but you have to

Isabel

No I mean, I don't want to be remember as a zombie thing. I feel like I should just die now

Josh

What so you want us to kill you? 

Isabel

I'm dead anyway, I'm already turning white and blood is coming out of my mouth

Thomas

No you're fine

Isabel

I'm not, don't make this any harder Thomas, please

Thomas nods

Isabel

Just kill me, you managed to kill the guy out there you can do it to me

Brydie

But you're our friend..

Isabel

Brydie

Brydie

Sorry

Brydie straightens herself out and puts on a brave face

Brydie

Okay...right Josh get the bats from earlier

Josh heads out to get the bats

Thomas

You can't be serious

Brydie

Look Isabel wants this, if you love her you'll let her go

Thomas nods

Josh

Got the bats

Brydie

Are you sure you want this Isabel?

Isabel

Yes

Thomas

Isabel I'm so sorry, I wish there was a cure of something

Isabel

Don't, it's fine, I'm sorry, I'm stupid enough to get bitten

Josh

You sure are

Josh says lightheartedly and everyone smiles but with grief in their eyes

Brydie

So you ready?

Isabel takes a deep breath

Isabel

Yeah

Brydie, Josh and Thomas lift up the bats

Thomas

I'm so sorry Isabel

Isabel

I love you

The three bats smack down at once

The 26th Day Scene 4

THE 26TH DAY

The four are back inside, Josh and Brydie are splattered in blood and all of them are staring into space looking slightly traumatised

Brydie (to Josh)

Hey you've got something on your face

Josh glares at Brydie

Brydie

Okay clearly not a good time for jokes, anyway I'm gonna wash my face n stuff

Brydie goes out the room

Thomas

Hey Josh

Josh

What?

Thomas

Thanks for saving me

Josh (making a reference to their argument before)

If I knew were gonna be such a prick I wouldn't have bothered

Thomas

Aha... yeah sorry about that, I didn't mean it

Josh

It's fine, and I guess I'm sorry too, you know it's hard being stuck in here all day

Thomas

Yeah, so we're cool?

Josh

Yeah

Thomas

Hey Isabel you alright?

Isabel

Yeah

Thomas

Really you look kinda pale are you sure?

Isabel

I just feel a bit sick that's all

Josh

Maybe it was from seeing the zombie getting hacked to death?

Isabel

mmm

Thomas

oh yeah thanks for trying to save me too, I honestly thought I was gonna get bitten!

Josh

What did Isabel do?

Thomas

She tried to push him off me

Josh

Really? (to Isabel) How did you not get bitten?

Isabel

I guess it was concentrating on Thomas or something

Brydie comes back from the bathroom looking concerned

Brydie

Who's been bleeding?

Thomas and Josh

What?

Brydie

There's a bunch of tissues in the toilet all covered in blood, and it wasn't me

Josh

It wasn't me

Everyone looks at Isabel, she looks up at everyone staring at her then runs into the bathroom, locking herself in.

The 26th Day - Scene 3

EXT.                    THE 26th DAY

The four stand outside, opposite the person who they think is dead and infected. Josh is first to approach the man.

Josh

Oi someone pass us a stick

Thomas finds a stick and hands it to Josh from a distance.

Brydie

So you're just gonna poke it?

Josh

Yeah

Josh approaches the man but before he goes to poke it he steps back

Josh

I dunno maybe I should throw something at it first, just in case

Thomas

I agree, I think there's stones over there

Isabel

But what if it is alive? Then it's just cruel

Josh

Shut up Isabel, it's infected anyway so it basically is dead. And when did you start having an opinion

Isabel

What do you mean?

Josh

You've barely said anything for days now, sulking away in the corner, we're getting sick of your attention seeking now so you can cut it out

Isabel looks hurt from what Josh has said and is trying to find words to come back with, but then Brydie steps in

Brydie

Josh shut up Isabel has been through a lot, we all have, just leave her

Josh

Tell someone who cares

Thomas
I've got stones...are we still gonna throw them..?

Josh snatches the stones from Thomas' hand

Josh
Of course we are

Josh leans back as he throws a stone at the person. Isabel winces as he's doing so. Nothing happens. Josh looks around the group and they all shrug, so he throws some more.

Josh
Guess it's dead then

Josh reaches for the stick from earlier and proceeds to poke the poke. 

Josh
Aha it's definitely dead look!

Josh repeatedly pokes the person

Isabel
Stop!

Josh
Why this is fun!

Isabel
It's alive okay!

Thomas
How do you know?

Isabel hesitates to answer

Isabel
I..don't know

Brydie
C'mon let's go back inside

Josh is still poking the person, then kicks it. Josh starts laughing but then the person slowly turns over to face Josh. Josh steps back in disbelief. The others have already started to walk away before this has happened.

Josh
Guys...

Brydie
What now?

Josh
I think it's alive

The others quickly turn to face the person. The person is moving slowly and grabs the ground to get up

Thomas
Okay everyone stay calm, we need to go back inside, lock the doors again and we'll be safe

Thomas says talking slowly and calmly but is clearly scared.

Josh suddenly runs to the other side of the garden, making everyone jump. The person, who is still moving relatively slowly,  is now on his feet, but is staying still.

Brydie
Josh no!

Thomas
What are you doing we need to get iside!

Josh is banging on the shed door to try and break it open, but it's not budging. The person is now walking towards the group. Brydie and Isabel stay back but Thomas, who is watching the shed doesn't notice and the person pulls him to the ground. The person is trying to bite Thomas but he keeps it's head at an arms length, but is clearly struggling.

Thomas
Help me! 

Brydie
Just hold on!

Brydie runs to the shed where Josh is and together they bash the door.

Thomas
Hurry up!

Brydie and Josh continue to bash the door but still nothing happens. Thomas looks like he's going to give up but at one last push he looks to Isabel

Thomas
Isabel do something!

Isabel runs over to Thomas' aid, but still the person is trying to bite him. Isabel tries to push the person off but nothing happens.Josh and Brydie finally break down the shed door and scramble iside to get tools.  Thomas' arm which was holding up the person, stopping it from biting him, bends and the person is about to bite him.

Isabel
No stop!!

The person immediately stops and it's head slowly turns to look at Isabel. Thomas takes this opportunity to push the person off him and quickly steps back from it. Isabel is still looking at the person. Josh and Brydie, now armed with garden tools run to the person and turn him over, so his head is facing the ground.

Josh
Now?

Brydie
Now!

They both start bashing the person with the garden tools. After a few moments they stop and look at the thing they just killed. Thomas and Isabel are looking distressed.

Brydie
So I guess it wasn't dead

-End of Scene-

The 26th Day - Scene 2

INT.                    THE 26TH DAY

After the first scene some time has passed, but it is clearly the same day.

The group are in the same room all hanging about. They seem bored. Thomas is by the window and is looking out of it, clearly distracted from reading his book. Isabel is sitting alone and Josh and Brydie are sitting near each other.

Josh

I'm bored

Brydie

We're all bored

Josh

How long's it been now?

Brydie

Err, I think they said 26 days

Josh

Jheeze really? It feels longer

Brydie

I know, we haven't been out in weeks.

Josh

*noticing Isabel alone in the corner* She's acting weird, what's up with her?

Brydie

Well she hasn't seen her family in ages, we're having to ration our food and we've been stuck in the same stupid room for what feels like a billion days, maybe that's what's bugging her

Josh

Yeah well we're all in the same situation and you don't see me sulking about it

Brydie

Look just leave her, it's hard for all us but we just take it in different ways

Josh

Whatever

Thomas is looking out of the window when he sees something in the bush. He then realises it's a zombie lying on the floor.

Thomas

Hey don't panic

Brydie

Why what's happened?

Josh

Have we ran out of beans?

Brydie nudges him

Thomas

I think there's a person out there

Josh

Ah let's see!

Josh rushes to the window and pulls back the curtains and cardboard, causing light to pour in. The group squint at the sight of it.

Isabel

What's happening?

Josh

There's a zombie out there

Thomas

Don't use that word!

Brydie

I think it's dead

Thomas

I don't know

Thomas walks away from the window

Thomas

Guys we have to go, I don't think it's safe to stay here

Brydie

You serious?

Josh

Don't be such a drama queen. We just need to check if it's dead that's all

Thomas

Oh yeah and how are we gonna do that?

Josh

We can poke it or something? I don't mind going outside

Brydie

For once I think Josh may be right. How you gonna do it?

Josh

I'll just get a stick from outside and give it a nudge, and if it don't move then the zombie is obviously dead

Brydie

They're not zombies they're people with cerebrum Mortius Syndrome

Josh

Yeah, or zombies. Anyway I'll go out on my own I don't need anyone with me

Brydie

No we'll all go, because if one of us gets hurt then we're all in danger

Thomas

We're not going outside!!

Thomas' sudden outburst shocks the group and usually he's calm and content.

Josh

Wowa calm down man, if you don't wanna go that's fine, we all know you're a bit, well you know

Thomas

A bit what?

Josh

A bit of a coward

Thomas

Oh I'm the coward? I'm the one who rescued you when you were nearly bitten and everyone abandoned you. If I knew you were such a prick I wouldn't of bothered.

Josh pushes Thomas and they start pushing each other, Brydie intervenes

Brydie

Guys stop! It's us verses them if we start fighting we might as well give up!

Thomas and Josh calm down but don't apologise.

Brydie

Now are we going outside?

Josh

I think we should

Brydie - to Isabel-

Isabel?

Isabel

What?

Brydie

Do you think we should go out?

Isabel

Er yeah sure

Brydie

Cool, Thomas?

Thomas

Yeah fine

Brydie
